SCSD was founded in 2007 by Carla Coleman and Lori Fowler. Their combined experience in the areas of rescue dogs, service dogs, persons with physical disabilities, non-profit organizations, and community networking have created a solid foundation for SCSD.

Misson
The mission of Second Chance Service Dogs, Inc. is to positively affect the lives of people with physical disabilities and that of dogs that come from primarily rescue/shelter situations. Selected dogs are socialized and trained to provide assistance and companionship to people with physical disabilities in the greater Dane County area at no or low cost to the recipient.
Service Area: Madison area and surrounding counties
Core Values:
- Select dogs primarily from rescue/shelter situations
- Select dogs who are evaluated for solid health and temperament
- Place into adoptive homes any dogs that do not complete our training program
- Provide training and socialization to bring out the best qualities in our dogs
- Provide training and support to those people who qualify for a SCSD
- Provide follow up support after placement with clients to ensure a life-long successful placement
- Provide training and support to SCSD volunteers
