Who We Are

Carla Coleman - one of the co-founders of Second Chance, has a wealth of knowledge in training service dogs and working with client/service dog teams. Carla, in addition to training many service dogs in her career, has a Master of Arts in Special Education and spent ten years working with students with disabilities. Service dog training is the perfect partnership of her interests and skills. Carla currently lives with her husband, two Golden Retrievers - Zelda (5) and Barley (4). Zelda and Barley are the mentors for Kody who Carla is training and socializing to be an agent of independence and companionship for a future client.
Lori Fowler - the other co-founder of Second Chance has been involved in breed rescue for over a decade. She specializes in German Shepherds and has placed hundreds of dogs in her rescue career. Lori is president of ARF's German Shepherd Rescue www.arfrescue.com and lives with her husband and their three 'fur' kids Cheveyo (3) a long haired German Shepherd, Luna (7) a
German Shepherd mix and Nala (4) a freagle (aka Brittany spaniel and beagle combo!) Lori and Rich are training Lukas for Second Chance.
Crystal Saxe - has trained dogs for 7 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and an Associates in Landscape Design. She lives with Zodiac (a lab) and Ajax (a Golden Retriever). Ajax and Crystal have been working as a Therapy Dog team for the past 3 years with the Madison Fire Department. As a long time trainer, Crystal is often asked how can she give up a dog after all the love, time and training she puts into it. She says it's never easy, but you have to remember the dog isn't yours and your training the dog to improve someone's life and allow them to be as independent as possible.
Chris Carlson -
Chris Carlson (www.carlsonco.com) has graciously offered to serve as an honorary board member for 2nd Chance Service dogs. Basil, who was recently placed, was trained by several of the Carlson Company employees.
