Who We Are

Carla Coleman is one of the co-founders of Second Chance Service Dogs. She began training service dogs 12 years ago and has a wealth of knowledge in dog training and working with client/service dog teams. Carla has a Master of Arts in Special Education and spent ten years working with students with disabilities. Service dog training is the perfect partnership of her interests and skills. Carla currently lives with her husband, two Golden Retrievers - Zelda (7) and Barley (5) and Kody (2), a mixed breed rescue dog who is the ambassador of SCSD, giving educational demonstrations of the skills a service dog performs. Carla also teaches family pet dog training classes in the Madison area and is a Canine Good Citizen evaluator.
Crystal Saxe - has trained dogs for 7 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and an Associates in Landscape Design. She lives with a Labrador Retriever, Zodiac, and a Golden Retriever, Ajax. Ajax and Crystal have been working as a Therapy Dog team for the past 5 years with the Madison Fire Department.
Chris Carlson - Chris Carlson www.carlsonco.com serves as a board member for SCSD and provides training space and support for our program.
